Meet Our Founder: The Story Behind Mosaic Early Intervention
We spoke with Ash about her journey to establishing Mosaic Early Intervention, now one of the leading EIBI providers in the Sutherland Shire! Her lifelong passion for inclusion and dedication to supporting children with developmental disabilities continue to shape her work and inspire Mosaic’s approach.
What Inspired You To Pursue A Career In Supporting Neurodiverse Children And Their Families?
From a young age, I’ve been passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities. Even in primary school, I would gravitate towards helping classmates with varying abilities, making sure they were included and had the support they needed.
As I grew older, I gravitated toward roles that allowed me to help others, and my commitment to supporting children with disabilities continued to grow.
How Did Your Education And Early Career Experiences Lead You To A Role As A Behaviour Therapist?
Initially, I set out to become a Speech and Language Pathologist, but during my university studies, I discovered the world of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). I was amazed by how early, intensive intervention could help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) make incredible, life changing progress. This led me to start working as a Behaviour Therapist, and I never looked back.
Over the years, I gained valuable experience, earning a Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies and a Master’s in Education (Applied Behaviour Analysis). I also became a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and Certified Behaviour Analysis (CBA). This knowledge, combined with my passion for supporting children, helped me provide the best possible care for children with ASD and developmental delays.
During my studies, I worked full time as a Behaviour Therapist, moved into a Senior Behaviour Therapist role and then finally as a Program Supervisor – Behaviour Consultant.
What Inspired You To Transition From Working As A Behaviour Therapist To Founding Mosaic Early Intervention?
As I continued my work, I realised that families in my local community needed more accessible services. After six years of commuting to provide support across Sydney, I decided to open Mosaic Early Intervention in the Sutherland Shire.
What started as a small practice quickly grew, and now we’re grateful to be recognised as one of the leading Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) clinics in the area, known for our commitment to high standards and positive outcomes.
How Has The Mosaic Early Intervention Team Grown Since Its Early Days?
When I first opened Mosaic Early Intervention, it was a solo practice. But as demand grew, I added two casual therapists to meet the needs of local families.
Today, we have a dedicated team of 25 therapists. Many of them began their careers as Behaviour Therapists under my mentorship and have since gone on to become certified professionals, including several Certified Behaviour Analysts (CBA).
This growth has been incredible to witness and ensures we can support even more children and families in our community.
How Does Mosaic Early Intervention Demonstrate Excellence In Supporting Children And Families?
At Mosaic, we believe in providing safe, evidence-based support that makes a real difference in children’s lives. We focus on teaching skills that children can use in their everyday lives, both at home and in the community.
What sets Mosaic apart is our commitment to ongoing professional development. We ensure that all of our team members have the supervision, training and experience they need to deliver the best care possible and are always up to date with the most effective evidence-based practices.
We’re constantly reviewing and refining our approach to make sure children are always making progress toward their goals and accessing the best possible services available.
At Mosaic, we focus on teaching skills that children can use in their everyday lives, whether at home, school, or in the community. Every child’s program is highly individualised, with goals based on their unique strengths and needs.
We’re diligent about recording data for every skill acquisition and behavioural goal, which allows us to continuously analyse progress and make necessary adjustments. This evidence-based approach ensures each child is always moving towards their goals.
We understand that families play a central role in a child’s success. That’s why we work closely with parents and caregivers, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and involved in their child’s journey.
By offering practical strategies and open communication, we help families feel confident in supporting their child’s progress at home and beyond.
Can You Tell Us A Bit About Yourself Outside Of Mosaic?
Outside of work, I’m a proud wife and mum with a young family. I have an almost two-year-old daughter and a newborn baby boy.
Family means everything to me, and I cherish spending time with them at the beach or on walks. These moments reinforce the importance of creating a warm and supportive environment—something I strive to bring to Mosaic every day.
What Are Your Hopes For The Future Of Mosaic Early Intervention?
As we continue to grow and evolve, I’m more excited than ever to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families.
At Mosaic, we take pride in creating a compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming environment where children feel happy, relaxed, and engaged in their therapeutic journey.
My team and I are deeply committed to providing the highest quality support to every family we serve, and I look forward to continuing this important work for many years to come.
